| Interviews must be conducted with key personnel
at the sporting venue during the field trip to establish reasons why the venue does not host local, national or international sporting competitions. Before the field trip a general questionnaire can be drawn up through a mind mapping exercise conducted
as a class. The questionnaire must be handed out to each group before the field trip and should contain open ended questions which will focus on reasons why there are no sporting competitions held in the venue,
or if there are why are they not conducted on a larger scale than they
presently are.

| Learners must go to go to their local tourism bureau for information on the various accommodation establishments in the
area. They must also gather information on restaurants and other food outlets, transport facilities, curio shops and other tourist
attractions of the area. A list of all this information must be compiled and kept aside for the information brochure, which
will be compiled later.

| Imagine games - learners can be given a scenario of 5 000 people attending their local sporting venue for a
sports event to be held there. Learners are asked to co-ordinate the function. The following
must be taken into account: - Capacity of the venue - Seating - Toilet facilities - Advertising - Public address systems - Food stalls - Manpower - Covered seating for dignitaries - Accommodation facilities - Other
An entire action plan is to be drawn up with a time line and duty allocation. |
