During the investigation and writing of this case study the case writers discovered that  more is needed than just having the sporting facilities in order to attract high profile sports competitions to an area.

Firstly the sporting venue must have the capacity to accommodate the number of spectators who will attend the event.  This means that it must be big, with adequate seating, enough toilet facilities for everyone, and adequate technical facilities like sound systems, plug points, flood lights, etc.

It was found that Amanzimtoti does not possess sporting facilities that would meet the needs of high profile sporting events.  Development to increase capacity is required in order for the town to achieve this objective.

However it must be noted that there is still a potential for development and that in the meantime sporting competitions on a smaller scale can still be held here.  In fact, it is evident from the research that smaller competitions can be hosted with ease and success.

It is hoped that this case study will snowball into something of significance for sports tourism in Amanzimtoti.
