LEARNER ACTIVITIES FOR CASE STUDY


UNDER-UTILISATION OF SPORTING
FACILITIES

The following learner activities have been developed to assist educators in using this case study to encourage learners to explore sports tourism and its potential.  The activities are learner-centered and have been compiled in such a manner so as to encourage responsible learning through self-discovery. 

THE CASE STUDY IS TO BE USED AS A RESOURCE FOR LEARNERS TO USE IN THE EXAMINATION OF SPORTS TOURISM.  LEARNERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO UNDERTAKE A SIMILAR PROJECT IN THEIR OWN AREAS BY USING THE ACTIVITIES CONTAINED IN THE CASE STUDY.

  1. Introductory activities: 
    After this lesson learners will be able to:

    - Identify the role of sport in people's lives

    - Define sports tourism

    - Identify role players in sports tourism

  2. Examination of key issues in the case study (individual activities & group activities). 
    After this lesson learners will be able to:

    - Conclude  the benefits of sports tourism from their investigations

    - Identify supplementary organisations that are needed to encourage sports tourism

    - Identify obstacles that may impede sports tourism

  3. Problem solving. 
    After this lesson learners will be able to:

    - Examine ways to solve litter problems

    - Encourage community participation

    - Take an active role in solving problems

    - Actively participate in resolving an issue

  • Conclusion 
    After this lesson learners will be able to:

    - Evaluate the effort made in solving the problem

    - Experience the elation of being a contributor to the well-being of the community

    - Write a report on their findings.
