American Express: Michael Qualantone

Michael Qualantone is Senior Vice President and General Manager responsible for Global Supplier Relations, Marketing & Products and Partner Network, American Express.

In this capacity he leads a global team responsible for all Business Travel supplier engagements with airlines, hotels, car companies and limo providers, as well as on-line booking tool providers and Global Distribution Systems (GDSs).  Additionally, the Travel Partner Network consists of strategic relationships with key franchise partners around the world in provide outstanding support and service for our clients and travelers.

Mike has also assumed expanded responsibility for Global Marketing, Product Development and Innovation, as well as internal and external Communications. In this capacity he’ll lead a global team in the maintenance and development of products and solutions that deliver core and enhanced service, savings, and control.  This role also includes innovative and strategic efforts such as mobility, MI, and customer value programs.  The Communication team leads all industry, media, and social media channels. 

Previously, Mike was Vice President, Client Services Group, bringing together key Operational and Client Management aspects of the organization.  He’s spent time both on the client management side as well as in operations as VP, On Sites and Customer Solutions.  He’s led operations for both the US On-site servicing and Latin America call centers.  

Mike has been with American Express for 22 years and has held various leadership positions within Finance, Travel Back Office, and Business Travel.  Prior to his Operations roles, he was Vice President, Global Distribution Strategy, In this role, Mike was responsible for all Travel Distribution matters globally and was integral in establishing American Express’ alternative Distribution strategy, know as TravelBahn DS.  Mike is a named inventor on the recent American Express US patent for TravelBahn and its innovative solution. 

 He earned his MBA and BS degrees from Arizona State University.  Mike’s industry knowledge was recognized with a “Distinguished Fellow” award in 2005 from the Association of Corporate Travel Executives (ACTE).  He was a recipient of the 2006 American Express Kim Vismale Award and a 1999 Corporate Services Leadership Award in recognition for his outstanding leadership and contributions to both customer and business results.
