CONCLUSION AND LESSONS LEARNED

After having conducted this case study, the case writers came to the following conclusions:

The case writers found very little evidence of genuine concern for the environment and for conservation as a whole

Most people in Kuyasa Township are not interested in waste disposal management

For them to become interested, there needs to be a financial benefit

Recycling projects, other than bottle collection, must be initiated.

The Local Authority is not as involved in waste management in Kuyasa Township as it should be.

Kuyasa Township has great Tourism potential which needs to be developed.

…… part of our daily lives!

If the local authority does not have the necessary resources and the residents of the Kuyasa Township do not take responsibility for their waste….

WHO IS GOING TO CLEAN UP THE TOWNSHIP??

…or does it simply mean

"OUT OF SIGHT, OUT OF MIND"?

At the end of the day it is individuals and communities that hold the real key to solving Kuyasa’s waste problem by practising sustainable lifestyles and diligently applying environmental responsibility.
