Travel Photo Competition

2019 First Prize: Tiffany Cheung, Hong Kong SAR
Space Museum of Hong Kong, Tsim Sha Tsui

You may be an aspiring photographer or simply have an eye for what makes a great shot, but either way you’ll be pleased to know that the GTTP-sponsored annual photography competition is taking place in 2022.

Can you take that one photo that can showcase your community as a travel destination? Can you capture that one image that will make a prospective visitor say, “you know what, I’d like to go there”?

If you can, maybe you’ll be the winner of the 2022 Travel Photo Competition, a feat which will win the talented snapper a cash prize.

Communicating clearly with other people is a key skill to be developed by anyone wanting to go into travel and tourism, and that doesn’t just mean the spoken or written word.

After all, as the saying goes, a picture can say more than a thousand words.

Who can take part?

The competition is open to all students at GTTP schools.

Can I use any camera?

In short, yes. Clearly many people use the cameras on their devices, where the image quality continues to improve. If you are using a film camera, the picture will have to be digitized before submitting. You may use software to edit your work.

How do I submit my work?

Just send a JPEG file, no bigger than 4MB, to your country director via email (your teacher can provide this). You’ll also need to send us an entry form, which you can download here. Complete the form, scan it and send it along with your submission.

Please note that all photos that are submitted become the property of GTTP, and if used in print or electronic media, the student photographer will be credited.

2019 Second Prize: Banele Motsoeneng, South Africa
The Three Rondavels

How are the picture judged?

Each GTTP country will judge its own photos using its own scoring method. Entries will be judged on technical competence, composition and engagement impact.

Is there a prize?

Of course. There are national prizes with entry into the international finals.

Two winners in each GTTP country will receive the equivalent in their currency of US$100 and both will be entered in the international competition. The photos of all national winners will be featured on the GTTP website and you will be required to complete this consent form.

All national winners will receive an official GTTP certificate acknowledging their achievement.

And the deadline?

Entries need to be with us by July 1, 2022. Good luck!
