EXECUTIVE BIOGRAPHY

Francisca Martinez has served as the Chief Human Resources Officer for Europe, Middle East and Africa since January 2020. In this position she is the strategic Human Resources business partner to the President of Europe, Middle East & Africa and member of the Continent’s Senior Executive Leadership team. Francisca has responsibility for leading the Human Resources function for over 80,000 associates across the region, in support of the Continent’s strategic priorities and plans.

Prior to this role, Francisca held the position of Chief Human Resources Officer for Europe. In this role she supported the merger and successful integration of Starwood Hotels into the Marriott portfolio in the continent.

Francisca joined Marriott in 2000 as Director, Global Finance Human Resources and has had a very successful career with the company in a variety of roles, including Director Sales & Marketing Human Resources, Senior Director Talent & Organizational Development and Vice President Talent Management with The Ritz-Carlton. Before relocating back to Europe in 2016, she was the Global Human Resources Officer Talent Acquisition & Employer Brand and global HR business partner for Global Operations Services at Marriott International headquarters in Bethesda, Maryland. In this role, she played an integral role in building and developing a Talent Acquisition and Employer Brand function for the company, designing and launching innovative solutions and technologies to support the global talent needs of the business, introducing and significantly growing Marriott careers social media presence and launching the first mobile job search application in the industry.

Prior to Marriott, Francisca held various positions in HR with Bristol-Myers Squibb and the Ministry of Social Affairs in Madrid, Spain.

Francisca is a Cornell graduate with a Master’s Degree in Industrial & Labor Relations and holds a bachelor’s degree in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid.
