GTTP Ireland
GTTP Ireland supports an introductory course on tourism which allows students to explore social, economic and geographical aspects of tourism and to recognize Ireland’s unique culture and heritage.
The course is a joint effort of Failte Ireland (the National Tourism Development Authority, established in 2003), the Department of Education and Science, and GTTP Ireland, and incorporates elements of the GTTP-developed “Passport” curriculum. Students also have access to two writing and research competitions developed by GTTP member countries, including Ireland.
Two course options are offered: a single-term module of 2 to 3 classes per week over
8 to 10 weeks, and a full-year program spread over 3 terms of 8 to 10 weeks. Course completion certificates, which are endorsed by the Department Education and
Science, are available to students who successfully complete either option.

Schools and colleges offering the course receive support from the Travel & Tourism Industry in the form of lectures from Industry professionals, opportunities for work experience, in-service training, and a detailed guide to teaching resources.
In April 2007 the Ireland Programme was serving 6,095 students in 265 schools in 69 cities, with numerous companies within the industry offering students opportunities for work-place experience.
