The Travel & Tourism Programme (TTP) in the United Kingdom is the national education programme of the Springboard Charitable Trust.
The objective of the TTP is to help teachers to teach more effectively courses relating to Travel & Tourism and encourage secondary students to consider a career in the industry.
The programme’s activities and services include in-service training for teachers plus curriculum related materials, case studies and guidance notes to support travel and tourism courses. In November 2007 the programme served 51,175 students in 2,595 schools in 652 cities, supported by 325 local partners and 764 companies that provided internships and other work-place experience.
Springboard activities include a three-week summer school for 16-year olds; the Future Chef Competition for 12-year old to 16-year olds; a Young Managers Course for sixth formers and students in their first year of college.
Students compete in the Aldo Papone Case Writing Award and attend an international student-teacher conference.
The Springboard Charitable Trust’s purpose is to provide education and relevant support services to help young people, the unemployed and the disadvantaged prepare for work in the hospitality, leisure, travel and tourism industry.
Springboard also provides services to the unemployed, to disabled people, ex-offenders, lone parents and other disadvantaged groups.
Springboard has its headquarters in London as well as representatives in Cardiff, Wales; in various locations in Scotland; in London and South East England; Leicester, in the East Midlands; in the West Midlands;, and Manchester in the North of England.
